How the Pandemic Turned a “Should” Into a “Must”
I needed to rethink my business from the ground up.
For years my financial stability was at risk because a large percentage of what I earned came from one large client. I should have known better.
Honestly, it was a rookie move.
And during those years I kept telling myself I needed to, wanted to, would create an effective marketing campaign, and build my base with a host of diverse, and smaller, clients.
And yet I didn’t.
Then the pandemic arrived. A “should” turned into a “must.”
I began to rethink my business from the ground up.
My first step was to draw on a fundamental business principle I refer to as the Ideal Client Formula: a client with an issue + your offering = consistent results.
In the simplest of terms, my Ideal Client Formula goes like this:
ISSUE: those that hire me are small business owners who are unsure how to create the next stage of their business
OFFERING: I help them clarify their vision and chart a plan of action
RESULT: they get the clarity, confidence, and skills they need to make their business vision real
Take a moment and let this idea sink in.
Once you do, I suspect you’ll see why I consider it a fundamental business principle – on which much of your business activities is based.
Honestly, it’s the 1 + 1 = 2 from which complex algebra-like business strategy is formed.
Not understanding foundational formulas like this one is a big part of why so much of business is challenging.
Concepts like this are so matter-of-fact for most business trainers and advisors they neglect to mention them. They’re speaking to you at an algebra level when you haven’t yet learned arithmetic. Is it any wonder business can feel mystifying?
Once you understand your unique Ideal Client Formula, it’s a game changer. You will spend less time, money, and energy deciding:
which marketing methods will position you where your ideal client will see you
how to evolve your products or services to best meet your ideal client’s needs
when potential clients are ready to commit
The Ideal Client Formula is just one of the foundational concepts included in my work with clients.
If you’re ready to build a solid foundation, clarify what you see for your business, and create a realistic plan, let’s talk.
